This route is characterised by ksour classified by UNESCO in 1982.
The market place of Ghardaïa called “Azghar Ougharme” which means the outskirts of the city, is located at the south-western edge of the ksar.
Formerly frequented by caravan traders from distant lands, this square remains to this day the largest and most dynamic market in the entire region. The square was originally erected around 1884
